FAQs
-
What mediums do you use?I love dabbling in different mediums and am always experimenting with different styles. Portraits are currently completed using graphite pencils. I hope to add color pencils by the end of 2019 (or even sooner!), so be on the lookout!
-
How do I order a portrait?Commissions are currently on hold.
-
What subjects do you draw?I prefer drawing pets and children, but I am hoping to expand to homes in the near future!
-
What size portrait can I order?I currently offer the following sizes: 5" x 7" (matted for an 8" x 10" frame) 8" x 10" (matted for an 11" x 14" frame) 11" x 14" (matted for a 16" x 20" frame) 12" x 18" (matted for an 18" x 24" frame) If you don't see a size you like, please feel free to contact me here. I would be happy to create something that is custom-sized to your needs.
-
How many subjects can be in a portrait?Based on years of experience, I recommend the number of subjects for each size: 5" x 7" (1 subject) 8" x 10" (1 subject) 11" x 14" (1-2 subjects) 12" x 18" (1-3 subjects) The number of subjects depends on the size of the portrait. If there are too many subjects in a smaller portrait, the details are unable to be seen and the quality of the work risks being lost. If you are looking for a family portrait with more than 3 people, please contact me here. I would be happy to work with you to find something to meet your needs.
-
Can you draw a portrait with a photo taken from a cell phone?Yes and no. I use reference photos when drawing portraits. I try to make my portraits as lifelike as possible; when a portrait is taken on a cell phone, the image is usually a lower resolution, which means that there are fewer details for me to see. A cell phone photo usually limits the size of the portrait you can order. For instance, instead of an 11" x 14", you might be limited to a 5" x 7" or an 8" x 10."
-
What are the best photographs to send you?The higher the resolution, the better! The more details that are present, the more I can accurately draw your loved one (and it doesn't hurt my eyes!) Good lighting is also important, but I can make do when needed. When ordering a portrait, send me 3-5 of your favorite pictures. We can then discuss your options for choosing a size for your portrait.
-
How long will it take to receive my portrait? The time to complete a portrait depends on the size of the portrait, my schedule, and if there is shipping involved. It takes me about four to six weeks to complete a portrait from start to finish. Shipping adds an additional week. Portraits are completed on a first come, first serve basis. If you need something by a particular date, please let me know. I'll be happy to try and work something out with you.
-
What all does my portrait come with?Your custom portrait will include a simple white frame, a white mat, and free shipping/handling (within the US).
-
How are portraits shipped?Portraits are carefully wrapped and shipped via UPS. A tracking number will be provided once the portrait has shipped.
-
What forms of payment do you accept?I currently accept the following methods of payment: Venmo (my preferred method) PayPal (the service fee will be added to the total price) Checks (local customers only; please do not mail a check) Cash (local customers only; please do not mail cash) If you need help finding a method of payment, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Artist/Client AgreementClients will be asked to sign an agreement prior to the creation of a portrait. The agreement includes details on the initial deposit, previews of the portrait, changes to be made, final payment, and it serves to protect both the client and myself from encountering any surprises during the process.
